Laura Lopez Cano received a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from the University of Texas at El Paso and continued her studies in fashion illustration at Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri. Cano has taught college-level classes in the United States and in Mexico as well as private art classes at her Austin Art Studio. Her current series, Mujeres del Siglo includes the images of bold, beautiful faces of dark-haired women. Inspired by her summer experiences spent in Mexico as a child, her portrayals of elegant women dressed in shawls evoke memories of a romantic era gone by.
