Brian Johnson is an artist and printmaker living in Austin, Texas. He is also an instructor of art at Texas State University and Austin Community College. Brian received his Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of South Dakota and Master of Fine Arts from the University of Texas at Austin. His work has been included in over one hundred national and international exhibits, including most recently the 2005 North American Print Biennial and the Print National. ...fertilizing fields of artificial turf... represents a series of questions about "life plans" that relate directly to recent changes in his life, i.e. a newlywed and homeowner. Transplanted to the environment of suburbia, the line between fantasy and reality is indistinguishable. The questions become: are our choices in life what we really want or are they what we think we want?
