Benito Huerta's work reveals his analysis of faith, the memory of its comfort, and recollections of family presence in the use and re-use of images from Catholicism and Santeria. His work also reflects the pain and alienation he has experienced as a Chicano artist. Huerta is well known for his schematic paintings - with single recognizable images. For Huerta, these images are present-day icons that communicate across cultural boundaries.
