Inspired by the Mexican muralists and the Chicano art movement, San Antonio artist Terry Ybañez sees art as a tool for educating the artist and audience. Ybañez is a graduate of the University of Texas at San Antonio with a Master of Art in Bilingual-Bicultural Studies. She received her BA in Studio Art from Trinity University. She has received numerous awards for her work, and has been widely exhibited in Texas. Working primarily in oils, acrylics, and performance art, she sees her work as a catalyst for change, a mediator for reflecting complex problems.
