Of Cajun descent, Austin artist Heyd Fontenot earned his B.F.A. in Graphic Design from Louisiana Tech University. Fontenot is also very active in the Austin theatre and film community. He explains that this image merges abstract pattern with decorative symbol. The wreath was chosen for its reference to achievement or victory. It functions as a reward, but the merit of its reward remains unnamed.
