Pansies in Aztlan

David Zamora Casas

Pansies in Aztlan, 2002

Screenprint

16 x 22 in

Edition of 50

David Zamora Casas, a self-trained artist born in San Antonio, Texas, works as a painter, sculptor, performance artist, and a creator of installation art. He is active in the gay and American-Mexican communities, and champions "principles of tolerance and justice through social satire..." by "examining my consciousness for a connection with (God) or my inner self, I paint personal observations." By way of documentation: using semen, blood, pubic hair; by combining visual, narrative, and music, Zamora Casas achieves a freedom to paint what he feels, and to be comfortable with his sexual orientation, with his idioma (language), with his familia (family).
