Margie Crisp was born in New Orleans, and now resides in Elgin, Texas with her husband and many pets. She attended Southwestern Technical College in North Carolina before going to The University of Texas at Austin where she received an Associate of Applied Science and a BFA. She works in hand-colored linoleum block prints, lithographs, and charcoal drawings, and is influenced by Dallas 9 and the WPA printmakers from the 1930s. Pond Cycle depicts specific flora and fauna from a scene in springtime central Texas.
